Relive, a Dutch startup that has been running a bit for the purposes of the tech media radar up to now, has the potential to be onto something. Inspired by its founders event during a cycling journey whilst on holiday in Tenerife early last year, the company changes work data, such as that garnered from devices made by Strava or Garmin, and combinations this with photos youve taken to create 3D animated videos.
The app has already been used by professional cyclists to document their develop in the Tour de France, and I accumulate Instagram founder Kevin Systrom has taken Relive for a go. But, perhaps more noteworthy, the startup has investigated almost half a million users sign up, who are apparently establishing 100,000 videos per day.
We realised there was an opportunity we certainly needed to catch. So we started building our mind on that same holiday, Relive co-founder Yousef El-Dardiry tells me. When we shared a first form about a year ago, it quickly spread and hundreds of thousands of cyclists of all the countries started expending it.
The opportunity was that, as recreation as it is to captivate pleasure data, raw quantities alone dont start very far in telling the true narration. What was requirement was a room to not only automatically visualise that data, but do it in such a way that sets emotion back into reliving a cycling tour and, in the future, any outdoor act, such as a hike or superhighway trip.
Current sports trackers focus on statistics, health and performance-based metrics, which we think is great, but exclusively captures one side of the experience, does the Relive co-founder.
Something was missing here; what happens online, doesnt accurately reflect what happened offline. Beings go out to have fun with sidekicks, explore new roads and limits, find dazzling deems, causing their own undertakings. For most, its not only about instruct but likewise plainly about having a good time outside.
To address this, Relive lets you create a more personal 3D video narration of your outdoor adventures. By crunching your pleasure data combined with GPS and timestamped photos from your phone or digital camera, the resulting video gives you a 3D fly-through of the direction, highlighting landmarks, including relevant images youve taken, pinned to a map.
For our customers, its the first time they can tell friends and family truly knowledge their journey. Anyone , not only cyclists, can understand what you have achieved during the go, whether its clambering great meridians, extending large intervals or watching impressive views, adds El-Dardiry.
Meanwhile, nonetheless, the app is yet to generate revenue whilst the team stands steadfastly focussed on rise and improving the product. To be honest, we still need to figure out our business modeling. With our present growth, that shouldnt be too complicated, especially when we break-dance the 1 million tag in users, expected somewhere this summer, tells El-Dardiry.
I also understand Relive lately shut$ 1 million in seed funding from a number of undisclosed investors.
