Cuba’s National Assembly elects Miguel Diaz-Canel to succeed Raul Castro as chairman

Havana, Cuba( CNN) For the first time in the lives of most Cubans, a male not mentioned Castro is set to take over the leadership of the Communist-run island nation.

Castro cuddled Diaz-Canel — who wasn’t even born when Fidel Castro passed his change in 1959 — during the session Wednesday, all but shutting his status as the island’s next president.
