Shocking dashcam footage captured the moment a toddler fell out of a moving van onto a busy street in China.
The video showed the unidentified 2-year-old boy scrambling from the vehicle’s rear opening and thumping the asphalt. The child then stood and is trying to chase after the van as it drove away.
According to Chinese word shop Sina Online, the potentially disastrous occurrence revealed in Jiangsu province’s Wujiang district on Saturday. The boy’s granddad was driving the van when the “restless” child reportedly inaugurated scrambling around the vehicle before eventually climbing into the trunk.
The van’s rear door had malfunctioned since early February when the vehicle was rear-ended in road traffic accidents, Sina Online reported. That’s why it popped open when the van inaugurated moving, inducing the son to fall out.
A good Samaritan who was driving behind the van hastened to the toddler’s save. Another driver then chased after the grandfather’s van.
“I was waiting at the red light. After guiding the intersection, a auto chased after me and obstructed resounding the trumpet, ” the boy’s grandfather answered, according to Sky News. “The driver told me a kid fell out of my van. I searched back, parked my van aside and went back to search for my grandson.”
In the dashcam footage, the grandfather can be seen hastening over to retrieve the fallen toddler, who did not lose any injuries.
Following the incident, neighbourhood traffic police prompted operators to practice child passenger safety.
